Philhealth for Freelancers

Philhealth voluntary contribution

Being a freelancer has many perks such as having to own your time, earning more (or less) depending on your projects, having to work in your PJ’s, and not having to endure hours of traffic going to work.

Working as a freelancer may shield you from the stress of commuting to work, dealing with office politics, it does not, however, safeguard you from getting sick. It is best that you have some health insurance in case emergencies happen.

Filling for your own Philhealth contribution, SSS, Pag-ibig, is just the tiny downside of being a freelancer although you are really not obliged to. But if you want to be ready when emergencies arise, get financial assistance when you get sick,  and secure your future, it’s best that you file voluntarily for these things as soon as possible.

The first thing that I took care of is the Philhealth contribution. So what to do when you transition to self-paying or voluntary contribution?

1. Accomplish a PhilHealth Member Registration Form (PMRF) form which you can get from the Philhealth office. This will change your status to self-paying.

2. Photocopy of government-issued ID.

Once you have accomplished the requirements, you can now start paying the Philhealth membership contribution of Php 1,200 on a semi-annual basis.
